Pruritus Ani (itching in anal region)
This is very common problem. It means intractable itching around anus.there are various causes of pruritus ani including some general conditions but in some cases it may be a consequence of some serious disorder. so it should not be underestimated and one should consult his doctor for proper treatment.
CAUSES:-
1. Prolapsing haemorrhoid
2. Anal Fissure

4.Condyloma acuminata
5.Colloid carcinoma of rectum
6.Cancer of anus

Dermatitis
Diabetes mellitus
Jaundice
Diarrhoea
Leukorrhea

Allergy
TREATMENT:-
Treatment depends on the cause. Idiopathic pruritus ani requires hygienic measures to keep anus and perianal region clean and dry.Hydrocortisone0.5% preparation applied locally gives temporary relief. Topical antifungals may also be used for symptomatic relief. Strapping the buttocks apart play a considerable role in idiopathic pruritus ani to keep the perianal region dry.
